Evidence, not accusation.
Too Noisy documents the timing and acoustic character of urban sounds detected from a fixed monitoring position in Brisbane.
How monitoring works
A microphone on a 26th-floor windowsill captures acoustic measurements and saves short recordings when detector or observer criteria are met. Signals can include irrelevant detections. Human review decides which recordings are suitable for public playback.
What the charts mean
Acoustic charts summarise digital signal RMS in dBFS. These are not calibrated environmental sound-pressure levels (dB SPL), and should not be used to assess statutory noise limits. Recorded peaks, wind, microphone characteristics, detector settings and incomplete periods may affect comparisons.
What event counts mean
Automatically detected and observer events reflect software or observer triggers, not proven noise offences. Published recordings have been explicitly reviewed and approved. An Extreme label expresses a reviewer's severity assessment, not legal wrongdoing.
Coverage and reporting
The reporting period, available measurement dates and data publication time are drawn from each dataset. Missing periods are not represented as quiet periods. Times are shown in Brisbane local time (UTC+10).
